She has been a regular contributor with international, national, and regional media, to include continued guest spots on national radio. An American in the Basement: The Betrayal of Captain Scott Speicher and the Cover-up of His Death won the Next Generation Indie Book Award for General Non-fiction in 2014, and No One Left Behind: The Lt. Comdr. Michael Scott Speicher Story earned her literary awards, an incredible press tour, and national/international recognition. With over 30 years in the publishing industry, Amy has published over 85 nonfiction books, most of them spotlighting current affairs, the military, history and the environment with a few biographies, corporate histories and art catalogues interspersed. Amy graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she earned her bachelor of arts in English and economics and the University of Virginia School of Architecture, where she earned her Master of Planning and was a DuPont Fellow and Lawn/Range resident. Amy also earned graduate certificates from the CIVIC Leadership Institute, Norfolk, Virginia, in 1998, as part of the organization’s earliest full community leadership classes and in Joint, Interagency, Multinational Planning, from the Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia, in 2006. She completed an off-site certification in axiomatic design technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, via the United States Joint Forces Command, Suffolk, Virginia, as part of ongoing continuing education in 2004 while a government contractor.
IN ADDITION to her published books, Amy has edited over two dozen books and drafted jacket copy for numerous others. She is also an experienced media marketing and publicity coach. In her decades-long experience, she has been an important part of launching book markets for three of the United States’ largest community history publishers. Twenty-five years ago, Amy first incorporated to include her urban design, environmental and historic preservation consulting practice – and her writing, speaking engagements and media appearances. Over the course of her career, she has also been a feature columnist for specialty magazines and newspapers, and was a guest feature columnist to The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk, Virginia, from December 2001 – January 2002, the six-part series “Dead or Alive?” with Lon Wagner submitted for the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism.

She analyzed, crafted and reviewed programs, projects and key initiatives, including white papers, speeches and commission reports for the National Command Authority; chairman and vice chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Joint Staff; United States Joint Forces Command; and component and combatant commanders. Recommendations resulted in project, program documentation or recommendations toward key decisions being made at the strategic and operational level of war.
